“But, I was gleefully ignorant of their existence until I was in my late 50’s. That tells me that bump stocks were not really a big deal to begin with.”

I’d heard of them before, but wasn’t willing to dump money on something that turned my reliable semi-auto into a jam-o-matic and, when it was working properly, into a very fun, but very inaccurate, way to turn perfectly good cash into a bunch of smoke and noise.

The Rhodesian Army found that soldiers are FAR more effective when firing semi-auto, rather than full-auto, and that this also saves quite a bit of ammo.

these laws are an all out attack on the Bill of Rights

Yep - Why do you think they so intent on doing away with the 2nd amend? Once that (and any chance of effective resistance) is gone, the Democrats will institute a tyranny that makes the worst of the Soviet Union, Cambodia under Pol Pot, and North Korea look like libertarian paradises by comparison.

Look at Australia - Guns gone, and now doing away with cash transactions , over $7500 for now, but down to 0 in the future.

You are mistaken...or you hang with the wrong crowd.

I, before leaving, had dozens of >15 round magazines, and I guarantee you that I was far from alone. There were quite a number of “assault rifles” (as defined under NJ law) that I saw. People just keep quiet about what they have (and may have acquired elsewhere), as they don’t relish the idea of being ratted out by some Leftist snowflake.

I bought them in Pennsylvania (mostly). A friend and I would go to the Forks of the Delaware gun show in Allentown, and buy what we wanted to. The best part of the trip (well, besides buying verboten hardware) was passing the sign on the way into PA that was put up by Gov. Casey (the elder, not his Leftist jerk son):

“Welcome to Pennsylvania. America starts here.”

It was a way for Casey to stick it to Florio, whom he hated. Naturally, my friend and I have pictures taken next to the sign.

Oh, I also bought some of my mags in NY (state, not NYFC - no gun shows there), or had some mailed to me at work in NYFC. I later sold those mags for a VERY hefty profit after the Sandy Hook shooting.

Tell me that I can’t do something, and going around or through that prohibition becomes a challenge. See my tagline.

ALL the upstate New York guns are duly registered in Maine. There are no guns in upstate NY.

A small bungee on your belt can “simulate” a bump stock. Should they outlaw devices that simulate a simulation?

“That’s probably because among the predominantly submissive residents of New Jersey, not a single one of them owns either an AR-15 or a bump stock.”

That’s simply not true.

You have to keep in mind that people living in a police state generally don’t go around blabbing about all of the verboten things that they have or do - not if they want to stay out prison.

Fact is that the NJ AG in the early 1990s was compelled to write a letter interpreting the 1990 Assault Weapon Ban - and do so very narrowly, such that if the rifle that you had or wanted wasn’t SPECIFICALLY on the list, then it was OK to own. You see, they had written the law very vaguely, and were unable to change it...so they were stuck with not being able to enforce it. That’s when I got an AR lower, after that letter came out.

You sound like my husband’s long-lost beother, especially when it comes to government interference of our rights and liberties. No matter what, he just goes about his business.

Technically, IL has gun ^owner^ registration.

Don’t worry. They will find a Stooge and make an example of them.

It worked for the Nazis, it worked for the Commies and it will work for New Jersey.

Mmmmwell.....it’s not often talked about but there’s a lot of noncompliance in Australia, too. Seems a lot of blokes didn’t register their naughty guns in the first place.

And as for a totalitarian takeover here, IMO saying it’ll be worse than Stalin, Pol Pot, or Kim Il Fatso is a bit of a stretch. Those dictators started with a population either disarmed or never was armed in the first place.

The U.S. population is armed to the teeth & people are waking up to what the Deep State would like to impose on us. But the logistics and operational problems of carrying out a nationwide confiscation make it impossible. We don’t like being lectured to as bad people because we own guns, either.

Ever notice that each month into the Trump administration that gun sales continue to skyrocket? With all the talk of impeachment and dealing with us “deplorables” who elected him, people are taking matters into their own hands even if that means only acquiring guns & ammo.

That’s simply not true.

I know that. Also, I did include a "(ducks)" tag to indicate my sarcasm.

There are plenty of passionate Patriots in New Jersey still. One of my New Jersey ancestors—my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather John Hart—signed the Declaration of Independence. It's just unfortunate that the state is controlled by a majority of New York-style liberals—to include much of the GOP...

My philosophy is that a good person doesn’t need laws to tell him (or her) what not to do...and no law is going to stop a bad person from doing bad acts. Most laws are, therefore, superfluous to the actual well-being of society. OTOH, if the state wants to really put the screws to a particular person, all of those laws really let them stack up the charges and destroy someone’s life.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We WANT them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted — and you create a nation of law-breakers — and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

Oh, that’s what (ducks) means...

WRT to the Leftist NY transplants, I liken them to a plague of locusts which have just stripped an area of all life, and are now moving to better feeding grounds...where they’ll do the exact same thing without learning a single thing from their prior experience. Such were my aunt and uncle, NYC libs who moved to NJ so that their precious children wouldn’t have to deal with the NYC public schools that their votes for Mayor John Lindsay and others like him produced. Then they proceeded to vote for liberal/Leftist NJ pols. Liberalism really IS a mental disease.

Oh, I don’t hang with any of em. I’m just seriously POed at my Northeastern countrymen for how they accept this sort of nonsense.

NJ has been accepting tyranny for so long now that it’s generations infused. They don’t even recognise it anymore.

The Austrailians might not have registered them, but they aren’t using them either.

As far as what the Democrats want.NOTHING is too much of a stretch. Have you EVER heard a Democrat say, “Well we’ve gone far enough?” Or “That’s enough tax?” I never have and we never will. Why do you think that their ultimate goal is total disarmament of everyone except government agents? They don’t want the frogs to start jumping out of the pot when they realize how hot the water is getting

OK, here’s a Polish joke, told to me by a Pole:

“Why do Poles pour motor oil over their flowerbeds? So their guns won’t rust!”
