Roseanne is not a conservative by any stretch. She remembers her working-class roots, as does John Goodman (who unlike her has an amazing voice and musical talent) which is what makes them so refreshing on Roseanne. But except for supporting Trump, she’s pretty straight left wing.

Beverly Hillbillies poked fun at Beverly Hills, greedy bankers, snooty socialites, movie producers, etc., while pretending to poke fun at the South.
Roseanne has never been nor ever was “conservative,” just supportive of Trump, who is also not “conservative”. I’ve always loved the Beverly Hillbillies, and always loved Roseanne, not for the politics, but because she finds the fun in being behind in the bills, out of work and with rebellious teens running amok. Been there and done that, but never thought it was funny until I watched Roseanne and she showed me how.

The double standard is a symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Bill Maher can accuse Donald Trump’s mother of having sex with an orangutan, keep his job, but Rosanne makes a political joke (it wasn’t rassiss) about a political movie like Planet of the Apes and gets fired. If it wasn’t rassiss for Maher, it CANNOT be rassissss for Rosanne.
