The problem there is the too many social justice courses on campus. At Stanford, the univ (thank God) keeps the stupid lib courses at a minimum. Why? It costs MONEY especially if no one attends the classes. Plus, Stanford is private which adds to the cost / money situation unlike public UCLA..

The UC’s make adjustments like accepting more out of state students in order to make up for budget shortfalls. They also have to worry about their sports programs and marketing image, so financial realities do play their role.

Between the two UC’s though, L.A. has a very different culture to Berkeley. More “Hollywood.” Could be why the high-profile conservatives out of UCLA have been so media-oriented.
