Nearby on Waipio peninsula. We were doing some testin g over there and I was able to walk up to the pile of debris. Gazillion rivets in huge chunks of rusting iron. Nothing recognizable, it was not a neatly arranged thing.
From Google Earth, it looks like they have cordoned the area off now. Was not because of me!
The U.S. was desperately in need of resources and held innumerable scrap drives. Why would they just dispose of all that steel like that? Why wasn’t it hauled back to mainland steel mills?
