TV host Mike Rowe sounded off Thursday on why he believes the "safe space movement" is doing harm to young people in America.
The former "Dirty Jobs" host told Tucker Carlson he gives out a work ethic scholarship each year to graduating high school students and it gets harder each year to fill it.
Rowe, whose new show "Somebody's Gotta Do It" kicks off a new season Saturday on TBN, said applicants to the scholarship generally balk when asked to write essays, make videos and sign a "sweat pledge."

Looks like this guy went under the knife.
Of course it’s hurting young people. THAT’S THE DEMOCRAT-SOCIALIST-COMMUNIST PLAN!
Rowe is correct that we are growing a nation of wimps. Anything scares these youngsters because their entire lives exists in a bubble. Everything is given to them and taking anything away or denying them is “terminal”. I say this is what the media is showing us. Fortunately, there are many young and intelligent people in this country who are not falling for this. Colleges, especially Ivy League schools, are cranking out socialists daily. But, many are not choosing these schools and are pursuing alternate avenues of education, much to the benefit of our nation.
We enjoy Mike so much, pretty smart man! Safe spaces are crippling like Political Correctness is...both are meant to phony up reality. These youngsters may have to fight for their country’s freedom...sadly I don’t see many cut from the cloth of Liberty.
bmp for later
Health and Safety...going crazy.

Bicycle helmet? What the hell is that? If not for the “Helmet Law” (for motorcycles) I would have never worn one, (I finally got tired of being pulled over, ticketed, and fined. So I caved)
Safety glasses? While using a grinding wheel, maybe.
Ear protection? Puleez. Any hearing loss I have is from listening (and ENJOYING) LOUD rock music. Ear protection would be self defeating.
Sunscreen? It’s called a SHIRT (and/or a HAT).
I support seat belts and airbags. I CHOOSE to wear a seat belt, I CHOOSE to drive a car with airbags. I don’t have to.
I chose to learn how to swim!
I chose to learn how to hunt and shoot.
I REFUSE to be a victim or a PUSSY.
He always does it with a smile on his face. I can’t think of a better guy to sell a message. He’s totally non-threatening, congenial, well-spoken, and smart. Best of all, he focuses on IDEAS, not politics.
.He is correct about the safety meme sounding like the teacher on Charlie Brown. It becomes a dull drone of checking the box to satisfy the liability risk. I worked in one of the most dangerous industries for more than 40 years before and after the drone of the safety culture. Good crews that looked out for themselves and each other had a safety performance just as good and often better than that of the age of endless safety meetings and tool box talks.
As for the culture of today’s youth and entitlement etc. I will soon learn from at least one case of how that goes having agreed to hire a 14 year-old neighbor youngster to pint fences. My much younger brother lasted about two days at a similar task 35 years ago at a similar age when I hired him to paint my house. I’m expecting I’ll be painting fences this fall.
Lengthy read, but well worth it, imho.
I worked for a global corporation, and every room in every building had signs reading “Safety First.”
This was a way to protect their assets rather than their employees.
They also had signs with the ridiculous slogan ‘ALL accidents are preventable!”
High up on the back wall was a sign with big red letters DON'T GET HURT! That was the safety sign and pretty much the only thing ever said about safety. In the nine months that I worked there I know of no one who got more than a little bandaid booboo.
Mostly, he’s right. “’Safety First’ is the stuff of idiocy”
but one must remember that, “90% of people are the result of accidents”;)
Movie “HONDO” Starring John Wayne. Not a bad flick. I thought the “indians” were a bit artificial.
This message would appear EVERYWHERE in the old Bell System.

Well and truly said, and I especially like the phrase “phony up reality”!
