Unfortunately, it’s a no-win situation. If the big companies fight this, it makes them appear like they are heartless stingy, greedy jerks who don’t care anything about the homeless.

If they don’t fight it, then they get gored at tax time.

It seems that the only truly sane thing to do is to pay the tax for the time being, and in the meantime, look for another place to have their company headquarters. I would love to see it if Amazon, Starbucks, Vulcan, and every other major company that has its headquarters in Seattle with just get up and leave.

If that happens, then maybe councilmember sawant and all her other liberal Council Buddies will finally get a clue. But, considering how stupid liberals really are, I don’t hold out much hope on that.

No sympathy from me. Amazon and Starbucks push liberal politics - apparently as long as it isn't their ox being gored.

Same as all of their expenditures, it'll be passed along to their customers. The company won't be out a dime. It's the customer who will be gored.

I thought Starbucks loved the homeless and have opened their stores up to them.

I think people — even in Seattle — are getting sick of pie-in-the-sky liberal tax schemes. Seattle’s ridiculous minimum wage racket is already killing the restaurant business there; this head tax is just another blow to the city’s economy.

I don't see it that way.

As entities not supported enabled by taxes, private companies are aware that if you support the indolent, you are guaranteed to create more of them -- forever.

Only ignorant, arrogant elected criminals could view that as a good thing.

Screw them and the morons who keep re-electing them.
