There is a particular coordination of events that has been visible since December 2017 when the first evidence of the FBI and DOJ operations against the Trump campaign surfaced. In the past six months a great deal of granular timing relates to this coordination. In January 2017 the DOJ IG began investigating FBI and DOJ conduct during the Clinton investigation in 2015 and 2016.
Toward the end of 2017 a joint House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee venture was established to look into the FBI/DOJ handling of the Clinton investigation, and the Trump counterintelligence investigation. Judiciary Chairman Goodlatte and Oversight Chairman Gowdy established the joint-oversight venture and then little happened as they awaited the completion of the OIG internal review.
Between the Fall of 2017 and May 2018 the final stages of the DOJ-OIG investigative inquires took place. In this period DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz was joined with federal prosecutor John Huber. Horowitz focused on the ongoing internal investigation, while Huber received evidence carved out that holds value for criminal prosecutions.
During the period of January through May 2018 all congressional witness testimony from the FBI and DOJ participants to oversight committees was filtered through the need for U.S. Attorney John Huber to retain the integrity of criminal evidence. Toward that end, testimony from multiple witnesses, sought by congress upon members of the DOJ and FBI, was cancelled. Some of that testimony was cancelled at the last minute as the DOJ negotiated with congress and likely explained the reasoning therein. Example:

“This language (3 specific things) would NOT have been used if in fact Sessions intended that Huber have normal US Attorney discretion”
I disagree.
I believe that has to do with the subject of the letter - whether or not a Special counsel is needed. His point is that they will consider the need for a Special Prosecutor for every crime they look at. As indications of criminality emerge, they will assess each one to determine the best way to handle it (investigate/prosecute). Either:
1. Open a new investigation
2. Add it to an existing investigation
3. We need a Special Prosecutor for this one.
Overall though, Sessions assures that every issue raised by Grassley’s earlier referrals (and more) is already being handled by DoJ prosecutors, such that no Special Prosecutor is appropriate.
For Sessions to revoke or restrain a Congressionally confirmed US Attorney’s normal discretion to pursue crimes when there is a credible predicate, would be a major obstruction of justice. I think that is an unlikely extreme measure, for which he could be liable (and have his honor besmirched, which has always been a big thing with him).
It is quite possible that the AG oversees the investigation, and coordinates several offices in a big investigation (like this task force), but it would be crossing the line to forbid/restrain investigation/prosecution without a legally valid purpose (like preventing disruption of another investigation).
We will probably see, after the IG Report is released. If the IG publicly says that he made criminal referrals, it will likely become public - i.e. criminal charges will be made.
It won’t be much longer for the investigation into Hillary’s email server, which is the topic of this coming IG Report.
If it is determined that the investigation was inappropriately closed (pretty obvious), then part of the natural remedy would be to re-open that investigation. If so, I would expect that they have already begun investigating Hillary and those related to her e-mail server, and the mis-handling of classified material.
Nothing has changed their view, because they are accomplices.
He never recused himself from investigating Hillary or the DOJ or the FBI. He has no conflict on these subjects.
This is all dancing around the May pole. Spying on the president after the election was treason. Where is that worm sessions? I am sick of this kabuke!!
Many times.
If Huber and Horowitz turn into another Lucy+Charlie Brown+Football, it will be a national tragedy.
But don't just call one Conservative media outlet a "nuthouse" and dismiss what is actually occurring.
Here is an article in Breitbart that quotes GWU Law Professor Jonathon Turley, who is an honest liberal, and one of the most respected legal minds in the nation.
Turley called it brilliantto combine all the powers of the U.S. Department of Justices inspector general with a prosecutor who can bring charges, seek indictments, and get results for President Trump far more quickly than a second special counsel.
Please read the article. Respectfully, you are wrong when you say that Huber cannot bring indictments and charge the guilty. You said he was from Utah and was limited by geographic jurisdiction constraints. Both of those positions are incorrect.
Sessions sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), informing them that Huber is conducting a full-fledged criminal investigation into all the matters Republicans are calling for a special counsel to investigate. Huber has been investigating these possible crimes for five months, since November 13, 2017.
So, according to the article, it will take the whole month of June to interview three witnesses? How about doing it in one week.
I PRAY that Attorney General Huber is an HONEST MAN!!
OMG!! VERY interesting!
We think Priestap (”High Priest”) who is the one who said in a text that HE had replaced “the President” with “a senior administration official” so as not to implicate Zero, is a cooperating witness. That’s why his name has NOT been out much.
So what is going on with Huber is that he is one whom has already been confirmed by the Senate. AND, reportedly, he is a crack prosecutor against RICO targets.
That in itself is key.
The Left will confirm no one who is not anti-Trump, so Huber works for us, hopefully.
Same with appointing a second Special Counsel. The Left will confirm no one who is not anti-Trump.
Shocking is that the quiet one is the ARKANSAS federal investigator working on URANIUM ONE and the Clinton Foundation ties are wrapped up in that investigation.
Jury is out on what hell that ARKANSAS prosecutor may rain down on the abuse of power and RICO charges against the Clinton Machine, connected to the Obama federal intel machine against Trump.
“They never thought she would lose.”
It is facinating that Turley, who conservatives have never had and use for prior to now, is now a conservative media darling since he occasionally criticizes the mueller campaign.
But regarding your article you probably noticed this quote of Turleys:
Sessions sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), informing them that Huber is conducting a full-fledged criminal investigation into all the matters Republicans are calling for a special counsel to investigate. Huber has been investigating these possible crimes for five months, since November 13, 2017.
As you no doubt read the actual sessions letter in its entirety since it has been posted in this thread, you must admit that NOWHERE in Sessions letter does it inform anyone that Huber is conducting a full fledged criminal investigation. NOWHERE!
It appears Turley didnt proofread the notes someone wrote for him on the Huber letter since even a competent liberal lawyer can tell the difference between ordering a review and ordering a full fledged criminal investigation. Plus competent lawyers dont quote people as having bordered a full fledged criminal investigation unless in fact the letter says I am ordering a full fledged criminal investigation. Words are important to lawyers, and in fact we live by them. Misquote something like this is akin to misquoting a statute, an offense that both your opposition and the judge will hang you out to dry.
I am afraid that Turley simply misspoke, something all of us have done at one time or another. I doubt he would make the same mistake on the same issue again.
Other than this article I have not yet seen any commentator comment that Huber is actually conducting a criminal investigation. Experts who have been following this issue like Andrew McCarthy would be an example.
Thanks for researching this. I appreciate the time tou have devoted.
