In case youre growing tired of waking up every morning and checking social media or reading the Washington Post and hearing about how awful everything is these days, how about some good news? The U.S. Energy Information Administration has finished compiling all of the production numbers for last year and determined that America was the global leader in production of both petroleum and natural gas. And in terms of who else was in the hunt, it wasnt even close.

Great news! Drill baby drill! Frac some more - and most especially drill in ANWR.
I want to give the president and his cabinet the benefit of the doubt. Much of what we pay at the pump is taxes. If, along with increased production, we could slash the federal tax rates on gasoline, we’d see a nice drop. If they threw out CAFE standards and stopped with the winter/summer blend nonsense, it’d plummet even more.
(Caveat: I understand that blends are needed to meet demands of certain seasons, but a middle-of-the-road blend could meet both needs without having to retool our refineries twice a year.)
Sorry, forgot the /sarcasm tag. But good points.
Contrarian view. We already have so damn much shale gas and oil in the ground, we don’t need NYS’s supply. Hold it in reserve for when we do need it.
Oversupply has already happened a couple times.
Another factor to consider is the development of additional technologies for other uses for natural gas. As those come along, then it will be time to open up fracking in NYS.
