It is much more than that. What you describe is only a part of the feedback loop. Reporters that have not proven themselves as progressives are weeded out early.

People who are not “with” the Progressive agenda are identified by the media and activist groups and are weeded out regularly.

Politicians who are not Progressives are targeted by the media for defeat, in primaries and in the general elections.

Politicians who are not Progressives are targeted for conversion by the Media, who then say they have “grown” in office.
