I would guess that would leave questions in the minds of many out in the hinterlands as to why Trump was so fearful of an interview. My hunch is Trump is effing with their minds.

Exactly - the enemedia would spin it to seem as though the President is nervous and then declare that this means that President Trump is guilty.
My theory is that Guiliani/Trump are thinking that this whole thing is going to crumble anyway before an interview and this way the enemedia cannot spin it that Trump is guilty and/or “afraid” to do the interview.
