Armed teachers. Controversial to liberals.

Who are OK with having teen girls shot in the head because of their irrational fear of school teachers protecting them with guns.

What a crazy world we live in.

Broward school shooter Nikolas Cruz was for years a veritable parade of red flags.

<><>Twice the FBI failed to follow up on alarming tips – when Cruz vowed on social media “to be a professional school shooter.”

<><> local police made 39 trips to his home because of violent and erratic behavior.

<><> Even his schoolmates knew he was nuts.

Yet the 19-year-old somehow (A) passed “background checks,” and, (B) legally purchased the rifle he used to kill 15 students, a teacher and a coach.

Bleeding heart Obama weighed in by monetizing the "hands-off minorities" program for which Broward collected $53 million federal dollars.

The braindead NAACP also weighed in to protect minorities....thus, aiding and abetting the massacre.

Require.

I want Gov. Abbot and the District Attorney to resign for not require Galveston to arm its teachers.

How many more lives have to be taken before our leaders stand up to the Left?

While the left promotes the lie that teachers just are too incompetent to defend their charges...

If they are too incompetent to carry, then they are too incompetent to teach.

Sorry Joy you are wrong. In the seventies I attended a high school that made national news for being shut down because of violent race riots. The following year it was reopened and the entire student body (1500) kids entered through one portal past armed security (remember this was the seventies, not long after Kent state). The sense of security was prevalent, and the regiment made the bad actors very docile while on campus. While I think having armed staff is a good idea, you must temper that by looking at the faculty in these schools. How are a bunch of progressives (mostly women ) going to handle being the vanguard of security. Controlling access is the key ( pro-action not re-action).

“would kindergarten teachers be carrying guns in holsters? When you have seconds to act...is a teacher supposed to use those seconds getting her gun instead of getting her students to safety?”

How quickly can a class of 30 kindergartners move to safety, and how far can they move in "seconds to act"? My .45 responds at 900 fps. For the longest straight line of sight in my local elementary school, that is 1/6 of a second. I'll go with the .45 every time.

I would add, cameras in every classroom and hallway. Classroom cameras would be with sound so parents could also see what is being taught to their kids.

The reason you’ll never get approval to arm some of the teachers is twofold:

First, you’re dealing with a true and deep phobia. Leftists FEAR the object, the gun, irrationally.

Second: leftists want TOTAL CONFISCATION of all privately-held weapons, and can not admit to them being an effective deterrent to a mad shooter. Secretly, they fear they can not ram the full socialist agenda down the country’s throat as long as any credible ultimate means of resistance still exists.

Close the schools. These schools are far to big to manage students safely. Home schools, computer schools, small charter and magnet schools would be much better. But since we really just want someone to babysit and socialize our kids, this is what we have.

***Leftists who refuse to allow willing and well-trained teachers to protect their students reveal to all that their compassion is nothing but hollow hypocrisy. ***

Much like they did in the 1960s and 70s when plane hijackings were happening. They wanted new laws to prevent it, but NO GUNS! NO ARMED PILOTS! NO ARMED GUARDS!

Definitely allow. My 5 foot tall wife was a teacher for 38 years. She wouldn’t know the business end of a gun from a hole in the ground.

And the possibility that a student might take her weapon if she had one is real. Even though she taught 6 year olds.

lol

What's really silly is that most of those kids, as they visit their friends or travel in cars driven by their friends' parents, are in close proximity to loaded, readily available firearms at least a quarter of the time and don't get shot or even threatened with a gun. Shall issue CCW has worked wherever it's been implemented; there's simply no logical reason why it wouldn't work as well in schools.

Close the warehouses. Complete separation of education and government. Private pay or private charity.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rethink that. You really want a bunch of middle aged gals who have no business carrying with the opportunity of a punk twice their size blindsiding them just to get their weapon?
My wife was a very competent teacher for 38 years. All 5 feet of her. She would never have been a highly trained weaponized deterrent. Nor should she have been.
