It's not the shooting that equates the public schools with prisons, but the armed guards and metal detectors.
I've been in one of Syracuse city school's finest, with armed guards and metal detectors.
Everything is locked. If you want to go to the bathroom, an armed guard escorts you to the bathroom, unlocks it,, checks it before leaving you there, and waits until you're done so he can lock it up again, and then escorts you back to the room you were in.
Last I checked, at least prisoners can use the john without being escorted.
Yeah, schools with armed guards and metal detectors are a prison because that's what you have to do to get into a prison to visit an inmate.
When was the last time you saw a mass shooting at an inner city school?
Does the name *Parkland* ring a bell?
Lots of good that armed security guard did, didn't he?
The average suburban school needs a metal detector and an armed security guard at the front door. Not running around all over campus.
When your little darling goes to a rock concert or sports stadium they face a similar situation. I don’t think they will implode with the same thing at school.
Parkland isn’t the inner city and the resource officer whatever that even means was off toodling around the campus not standing by the door. He was useless.
Nothing is fool proof. The metal detector and guard make a statement that it’s not going to be easy. It’s a deterrent. The fact is that schools with proper security measures don’t see a lot of trouble.
