Trump has the Authority to declassify ANYTHING he wants.
Why he hasn’t exercised this authority sooner makes me think that he has been considering the political implications and has been waiting for the right time.
That’s the President’s real leverage—his ability to declassify whatever he chooses, at a time of his choosing.

I agree. And just to raise the ire of the Sessions-bashers in here, I would add that President Trump and AG Sessions together have been biding their time, waiting for the right time to drop the MOAB on this entire spectacle.
Also, ask yourself this. If Mueller has been investigating all things Russian in regards to the Trump campaign, and if dozens of reporters have now ferreted out the possibility of Mr. Halpers attempting to entrap the Trump campaign in a Russian collusion story, how could Mueller not already be investigating Halpers and his role in all this? It’s inconceivable that he remains unaware of Halpers’ involvement. So the question is, what has Mueller found so far in regard to Halper’s role?
If nothing, he’s not trying very hard.
But imagine the liberal heads that will explode if Mueller has indeed been investigating Halper’s role and if he’s concluded the same thing that President Trump has concluded. All of a sudden that Trump/Mueller meeting that occurred just before he was appointed special counsel would take on a new meaning. Once can hope. (Yes, I’ll concede that this last possibility is highly unlikely, but it would be sweet if true. The liberal press would be tongue-tied...but, but, but, Mueller....)
