Oh no, she did the worst thing she could do to him: Humiliate him in front of his peers.

He did not deserve that and he took that as a form of social death in his limited world (the school). He could never walk the hallways of that school again without the stares of ridicule and howls of laughter at him. He was finished there. Should he have left her alone and sucked it up? Yes, of course that instead of killing ten people but his emotional reaction to her public humiliation of him was more than he could bear psychologically.

She did not deserve to die, for any reason.

Or else he could try gathering his own claque, or even woo some of the lesser femmes, some of whom might be even sympathetic if he played his cards wisely and patiently. None of which would need a murder.

You see, it could have been a matter of a point of philosophical reflection. If this gal on whom he had a crush would act like that, isn’t it better he learned about it loud and clear? She might not have gotten all the admiration she thought she deserved. Were I another suitor of this gal, at that point I’d be thinking Whoa! she’s cruel, do I want that? Karma, so to speak, can be a female dog.

I think you are right. It’s the humiliation. Like the gay guy whose straight roommate videoed the gay guy’s First forays into gay sex in the room. And showed the whole dorm. The gay boy killed himself.

Kids need to learn social-emotional skills right in the classroom. That will help all sides. How to stop an aggressive love-pursuer, with class and decency. How to understand no one owes you anything, not even friendship, just because you like them. Respect that not everyone needs to like everyone. And NEVER SOLVE SOCIAL PROBLEMS WITH VIOLENCE. Parents need to be more aware of their kids’ social lives and step in when the see problems, including changing the kid’s school. There are so many online high schools, charter homeschools, etc. No excuse for keeping an antisocial kid in a giant high school filled with streetsmart teens.
