I have mindset in which I cannot accept past hurts unless I get revenge. I wish I didn’t but it’s me all over. Oddly, I never actually get revenge but nurse old wounds and brood over them. Not really a Paul Kersey, am I. So far.
A great book: Payback:The Case For Revenge by Thane Rosenbaum. Discusses hypocrisy of saying “it’s for justice, not revenge” and other mind games. It is revenge or subjugating your own worth to the bully.
Just remember what Poe's character Montresor observed: "A wrong is unredressed when vengeance overtakes its redresser."
