I honestly think they should cease calling it a ‘farm bill’ immediately. Most equate the ‘farm bill’ with farm subsidies when it is about 80% a food stamp/welfare bill. You can hardly blame this on agricultural states!
If you ever have a discussion about this with a Nebraska corn farmer, you will discover they are all in for this crap - as long as they continue to get their price-fixing guarantee as part of the deal. So, yes, I sure as hell can and do blame the AG states. Because it’s a general mentality, instilled in them by FDR, and persisting over generations, that farmers are deserving of some special consideration which no other American worker is availed. Nobody guarantees my wage. If farmers cannot accept the risk of their chosen vocation, then they need to get the hell out of it. I’m tired of subsidizing their livelihood.
