“Pure insanity to leave the doors unguarded.”
I agree,unless he had a co-conspirator inside to open a locked door.

We can talk about locking doors and banning guns. But these are "feel good" efforts that accomplish little. A locked door results in working with a conspirator, or taping a door jam, or breaking a window. Banning guns results in the use of knives, acids, and bombs (I'd rather be shot, actually). These "feel good" legislative "solutions" are not solutions at all.
The only solution that discourages future crime is the service of very public and very permanent justice. We have become too civilized for public hangings. The last one was performed in 1936 in Kentucky for rape. Folks felt hangings brought out the worst in onlookers. They were too gruesome for civilized people. And look where we are eighty-two years later. Have we brought out the best in people by hiding capital punishment from them?
This mass murderer will likely be institutionalized for a time and then released. He will have copy-catters. Nothing has been solved and no number of locked doors or gun laws will prevent the next murder.
