Never understood the adoration of Sinatra. Always saw him as a lounge singer from Hoboken who used his mob connections to gain fame far beyond what his talent deserved. Very limited vocal range, but built a Vegas persona of coolness which was a perfect fit for the 50’s that carried him through life.

Yeah, something about him just didn't match the accolades. He won an oscar for his performance in "From Here To Eternity." I own that movie and his performance was the low light of the movie. Especially the scene where he's arrested by the MPs and the scene where he dies. Truly amateurish.

He must have gotten the award because it was owed him. Or maybe Willie Moretti (Frank's godfather) made someone an offer they couldn't refuse.
