Trump said, “We got rid of the individual mandate. We have great plans coming out. … And we’re doing everything to keep those premiums down, but it’s a failed experiment, Obamacare. But wait until you see the plans we have coming out, literally, over the next four weeks. We have great healthcare plans coming out. But we got rid of the individual mandate.”

There are things that can be done with trusts to shield some of your estate for your survivors. But all that really does is get you onto Medicare sooner. (We actually had nursing homes suggest/encourage us to “spend down” her estate so that she would qualify for Medicare.)

Long Term Care insurance would provide some security. However, having been in the insurance business years ago, I can tell you that LTC insurance is incredibly expensive. Few can afford the premiums.

It’s a crappy situation but this scenario gets played out every single day by thousands of people. Due to advances in medicine people now live longer. Unfortunately, the cost of medical care has skyrocketed at the same time.

Every RAT running for Office in CA is pushing Medicare for all. That and hate Trump of course...

Diane “Fossil” Feinstein says Medicare for everyone 55 or Older. No matter her fellow Communists aren’t backing her.

Medicaid is rarely for old people-———it is for poor people, including their children

Was just referencing the federal spending on socialized healthcare as part of the budget. The poor don’t vote at the rate of the elderly, for sure, but gimmedats come in all ages.

....”they’re not getting rid of Medicare or Medicaid”.... Neither should they.....but there will be changes for obvious reasons.

Federal welfare spending is more popular on FR than I would have assumed.

No person 70 and over should be without full health care coverage in our country. We need to take care of our Seniors.

They shouldn’t be without clothes either, want to create a new federal agency? What do you have against 69 year olds, anyway? Why can’t they get their hand in someone else’s pocket with as much righteousness?

People that did all the right things can and do lose everything in their estate due to medical expenses if they aren’t lucky enough to die before then.

I’d fight for her right to spend every penny she earned as she sees fit on her quality of life. But when people start thinking it’s ok for them to plunder future generations the nation is doomed. Whence comes this thinking that anyone has a right to live as long as possible at everyone else’s expense? Why was this normalized?

What happened to enjoying life and deciding to leave more to the future and thereby raising up your future generations on the capital you created? Why has it become ok to blow through your own production, and then start saddling the future with debt to carry you as long as others can be expropriated to your benefit? I’d feel bad building wealth for decades and decades, and then torching it all and coming after the next generation’s wealth all the while piling debt and unproductive debt service costs on them.

Obamacare was collapsing long before the individual mandate repeal.

The Trump “Market Stabilization” plan is what stopped the Obamacare death spiral.

If Hillary had won, Obamacare would have collapsed already.

I see nothing at all wrong with our nation taking care of our elderly with healthcare, who have contributed to this nation throughout their life.....I’m grateful we have it for them. ...But there’s a big difference between helping our elderly and fronting those who use any excuse to claim those benefits, who have contributed nothing but sponging off the system their entire life.

70 yrs and older because today medical technology has advanced so far, and better food and health over all, that most people work to then. Even those who retire generally get some type of work on the side.

Again....we should take care of the elderly and those who have serious health issues that cannot work. And I’m not speaking of joe blow who falls every two years or whatever to claim disability.

Because we take care of our own in this nation that’s why.

Nobody’s plundering the future generations IF ‘the Government Representatives’ would stop “stealing” out of those programs to pay for ridiculous university and special interests nonesense in order to gain votes and donors in their states.

Zero insurers would fix it completely. Esp since mcare and mcaid are “administered” by insurers. How much are they paid to fail? Give back the money.
Speaking of zero socialist healthcare for life, not for srnators, govt workers of any kind. Only combat related injuries should be 100 percent covered.

Collectivist nonsense.

I do take care of my own, but you want me taking care of everyone else too. What claim do they have on the wealth I create? What right do they have, especially after saddling future generations with trillions upon trillions in debt, with making further claims against me?

It’s amazing how even on FR there are so many wedded to the idea that plunder is ok if they can get the government to do the hard part and seize the wealth of others for them.

You ‘rest your case’ on the principle that your participation in plundering your neighbor is ok if you get a big enough mob to go along with it.

I wish you cowards would try to steal from me yourselves instead of relying on the government to do your dirty work.

My Late Mother told me “you help People who CAN’T help themselves, not People who WON’T help themselves”.

She wasn’t taking about the Government.
