Thomas More was the ward of Bishop John Morton - Richard the Third’s mortal enemy. Unlike the Tudors, the Plantagenets would not execute clery who, like Morton, indulged in treason. So sadly, he was never imprisoned or executed for treason against the king. He’s the famed Morton of the despicable Morton’s Fork devised by the devious and rapacious Henry 7. Undoubtedly, Morton filled young More’s head with his gossip. More went on to write a satire based on Richard the Third (which he never published). Found among his papers on his death, it was used to abuse Richard the Third and the Plantagenets.
If you believe that Richard the Third was in his mother’s womb for two years and was born with hair down to his shoulders and a full set of teeth, More is your man.
