The Bible, math at least thru Calculus II, and Physics for Scientists and Engineers.
Dialoguing without at least some of either can be difficult.
Chemistry and biology also helpful.
Most of today’s conservative theologians are at a sticking point — what to do with the creation account. They’ve marched one way, secular science has marched in a different direction. If parties could even agree to factor out Darwinian evolution as the most significant factor in the creation process — and there are copious logical reasons to do that — one would still have a giant chasm.
While I have some private theories about it, mostly along the lines of day-age creation account theology with some general relativity included, I don’t make a big noise about it for fear of creating more offense than it is worth.
I can comment this: people who are great sticklers for the bible still won’t get very far until they have experienced the presence and work of the living God. And I’ve seen that play out in realms other than science. Science is just one special case.
