'Melania' rises in popularity as name for baby girls

...According to the Social Security Administration, Melania saw a dramatic increase in popularity last year, rising from the 1,650th most popular girls' name in 2016 to 930th in 2017. The 720-spot rise in rank was the fifth-largest increase among girls' names last year, falling behind Ensley, Oaklynn, Dream and Oaklyn.

The Associated Press said the surge is "likely influenced by first lady Melania Trump."

Even though the pronunciation isn't greatly different,* I do like the way the name "Melanija" looks compared to "Melania." Always fun to have a descending lower case letter in the lot.

*I was once scolded by a German about how I mangled the letter "j" in her name. I tried to get it right but failed to meet her standards.

Had to sit through a commencement speech at a college in New Jersey yesterday

Cloaked in ‘i’m a comedian and actor and hispanic and this country is going to get over its hatred of minorties’ which was bad enough, here was the theme:

Rump hates blacks and hispanics and has brainwashed his supporters into thinking that way after having colluded with the Russians to steal the election so get out there and vote in the midterm election so we can impeach Trump, and get back to the destruction of whitey that we were enjoying before Trump took over

I had expected to hear this brainwashing inuendo filled trash going in so i was prepared. I sat politely waiting. I didnt roll my eyes, i didnt respond i didnt applaud i ignored him, as he ignored me. He wasnt talking to me, an American patriot

The bad part of the speech was after, listening to the wealtgy educated hard working successful americans in my family saying that they loved the speech.
