Gina Haspel at her confirmation hearing to be director of the Central Intelligence Agency. (Screen Capture) (CNSNews.com) - In her confirmation hearing on Wednesday in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Sen. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.) asked Gina Haspel, President Donald Trumps nominee to be director of the Central Intelligence Agency, whether she had ever been alone in a room with Trump.
Youve been working with the administration now for fifteen months, said Reed. You have had the opportunity to brief the president. Have you ever been alone with the president?
Senator, Haspel responded, Im usually there with Senator [Dan] Coats [the Director of National Intelligence], a brilliant analyst who delivers the actual analytic briefing, and usually the national security adviser, the vice president.
Reed then explained that his question was inspired by fired FBI Director James Comeys claim that President Trump had asked him in a private meeting for his personal loyalty.

There have been allegationsMr. Comey, onethat while he was alone the president asked for a personal pledge of loyalty, said Reed. If you were ever approached by the president and asked for a personal pledge of loyalty, what would you respond?
Senator, my only loyalty is to the American people and the Constitution of the United States, Haspel responded. I am honor bound and will work very hard to deliver to this president and his administration the best performance and intelligence CIA can deliver.
She further told Reed: I dont believe that such a circumstance would ever occur.
Here is the exchange that took place between Reed and Haspel:
Sen. Jack Reed: Youve been working with the administration now for fifteen months. You have had the opportunity to brief the president. Have you ever been alone with the president?
Gina Haspel: Senator, Im usually there with Senator Coats, a brilliant analyst who delivers the actual analytic briefing, and usually the national security adviser, the vice president.
Reed: There have been allegationsMr. Comey, onethat while he was alone the president asked for a personal pledge of loyalty. If you were ever approached by the president and asked for a personal pledge of loyalty, what would you respond?
Haspel: Senator, my only loyalty is to the American people and the Constitution of the United States. I am honor bound and will work very hard to deliver to this president and his administration the best performance and intelligence CIA can deliver.
Reed: And if you were approached in such a way and such a demand were made of you, would you inform this committee and the Congress that you had been so approached?
Haspel: Senator, I have worked very closely with this president. I dont believe that such a circumstance would ever occur. CIA has been treated with enormous respect and our expertise is valued for what we bring to the table.
Reed: If it occurred would you inform the committee?
Haspel: Senator, it is a hypothetical. I dont think it is going to occur. I am very confident about that.
Reed: It does not seem to be a hypothetical. People have alleged that that has happened already.
Haspel: Senator, I dont know anything about that conversation.
Reed: Okay.
My response: “No, Senator, it wasn’t “people” as you, CNN, MSNBC, et al, continue to claim, but one PERSON - James Comey - who is a well-known pathological liar.”
I had the misfortune of having to work closely with a lot of House and Senate members at one point in my career and I can assure you, most of them would “fail to impress” with their intellect. Some, like Nancy Pelosi, Hank Johnson, etc., are just plain dumber than dirt.
I was surprised when she said that the CIA doesn’t do interrogation, that they never have, and that they normally hand that off to others.
But, it makes sense. They are covert agents, analysts, etc.
Back in the day, I’m guessing Gina Haspel was a very attractive women. She also seems to be aging rather well given her long career as a covert agent. Also love it when older women don’t cave in to having short hair styles. Long hair on women is more attractive at every age.
1) If she answers YES, Trump asked for her loyalty, then Trump is guilty (exactly of what, I’m not sure). Start the media firestorm.
2) If she answers NO, Trump did not ask for her loyalty, then Trump is guilty (since he asked only Comey, it must reflect guilt of something). Start the media firestorm.
Gina Haspel showed why she is nominated to head the Central Intelligence, and that Jack Reed is a hack politician.
I’d like to waterboard that jackass ... without any questions to ask him.
I would like Sen. Reed to name anyone who said that...Reed indicates some people have.....Comey? Clapper? Brennan? all above reproach...NOT!
Hostile ASC members Ganging up on Gina Haspel:
If she answers: “Yes, I was alone with the president”, Reed then asks, “What was that all about?”
There have been allegationsMr. Comey, onethat while he was alone the president asked for a personal pledge of loyalty, said Reed.
Isn’t Mr. Comey a self-admitted and well documented liar ?
Too me, it’s more slimey than the Comey loyalty pledge. He was making a sexual innuendo.
Has the senator been alone with Hillary?
These Democrat-Communists have such evil minds that they deserve to be executed.
They are evil
They all sound just alike.
Pretty slim playbook...
.
Mr Reed...have you ever been in a homosexual bath house?
What the eff?
Haskell is right t not engage in hypotheticals.
And Kamala Harris played Al Franken in attempting to get Haspel to recuse herself... Disgraceful...
Can’t help but notice the smug Kamala in that image upthread.
She could have him dead in under ten seconds.
Kamala is going to be the dems next Obama for 2020. Get ready.
well if we are threatened with dead women and children by terrorists,I dont care if they skin the bastards alive like the Indians used to do.— on tv.
