Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) came out against Gina Haspel, President Trump’s nominee to be CIA director, on Wednesday after her confirmation hearing in the Senate.
In a break with President Trump, McCain urged his Senate colleagues to vote against Haspel, charging that "her refusal to acknowledge torture’s immorality is disqualifying."
McCain said Haspel in speaking to the Senate Intelligence Committee failed to address his concerns about her role in an enhanced interrogation program during the George W. Bush administration. The methods used in that program are now widely regarded as torture.
Haspel cannot afford to lose any additional Republican support. McCain is recovering from surgery related to his brain cancer in Arizona and was not expected to be present when the Senate votes on Haspel's nomination. With McCain out and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) opposed, Haspel still needs support from at least one Democratic senator as well as every other Republican to be confirmed.
"Like many Americans, I understand the urgency that drove the decision to resort to so-called enhanced interrogation methods after our country was attacked. I know that those who used enhanced interrogation methods and those who approved them wanted to protect Americans from harm. I appreciate their dilemma and the strain of their duty,” McCain said in a statement Wednesday.
“But as I have argued many times, the methods we employ to keep our nation safe must be as right and just as the values we aspire to live up to and promote in the world.”
McCain said that he believes Haspel “is a patriot who loves our country and has devoted her professional life to its service and defense.”

If you are not willing to make a murdering terrorist uncomfortable to protect the lives of your fellow Americans, THAT is disqualifying for the position of CIA Director. I absolutely reject that waterboarding, an interrogation technique that causes no injury or physical harm (and is performed on many of our own troops and intel agents to give them the confidence to resist it) can be defined as torture. John McCain, you disgust me and I am embarrassed that you served in MY Navy. You bring discredit upon our nation.

McCain was a worthless ass long before Vietnam.

It’s interesting, there are some who say McCain is not on his deathbed, that he is faking and planning a fake death with an escape to evade justice.
Viewing reports of his hatred for Trump and his petty defiance of Trump’s nominees, I sometimes question if indeed McCain is on his deathbed.
His effort to have a replacement appointed to his liking also speaks to his scheming to influence his seat’s Senate votes after his departure. If he was truly dying, his concern would be with just trying to breathe.
I had an Aunt who died of glioblastoma. In her last year, she was in and out of consciousness and needed help just to go to the bathroom. And I am told that is expected of all who suffer such a disease. The tumors are inoperable and they press against the brain causing loss of lucidity, loss of memory.
McCain is writing books and making statements to the press. Something is off about a lack of expected symptoms of his disease and his acts.

Highly unlikely. But zero doubt he is getting nothing but the best experimental treatments out there that the little people like us have not even heard about let alone we could get if in a similar situation.
That was my thought, also. At this point, McCain may not even know who HE is, let alone Gina Haspel.
McClain is a bitter old man. His stupidity and treasonous actions with the Keating 5, the Steele Dossier prove it. BTW, McCain. It is you that is going to Hell, for your actions. And I have no pity for you whatsoever!!!!!
