Explosions were reported south of Damascus on Tuesday, shortly after the Israeli army announced it believes Iran is planning to carry out an imminent strike from Syria.
A pro-Assad commander said Israeli fighter jets struck a Syria army position south of Damascus, adding that there were no casualties. Syrian state media reported that Syrian air defenses fired at two Israeli missiles, destroying both in the Kiswah area.

Haaretz is suppose to be liberal and I read that one editorial about how pulling out of the deal makes war more likely. Whatever. I am sure we made the correct decision.
It would be a strategic disaster of the first order for Iran if it were to directly attack Israel. The Israeli retaliation would be so devastating to key Iranian assets ( by air, cruise missiles and ground sabotage by Mossad operatives), the casualties to Iranian key personnel and Revolutionary Guards so severe and humiliating, that it would be likely that the mullah regime would fall. Despite the bluster, the Iranians know very well what will happen. There will be no dirrect attack by ran on Israel.
The Israelis want to be attacked so badly they keep trying to provoke one to win the propaganda war over Iranian or Syrian retaliation and justify an even bigger punch from their side.

I just want us to stay out of it. No dog in that fight. Israel has provoked and provoked. They think we will get dragged in. We will NOT!! Syria has done nothing to Israel— absolutely nothing. This is unprovoked aggression on a sovereign nation backed by Russia and Iran. Let us know how it comes out.

Why would we align with Saudi Arabia after they attacked us on 9/11? We don’t support Israel if they undertake blatant unprovoked aggression against a nation that has done nothing to them. Im sorry I do not agree with that aggression any more than I would unprovoked aggression on this country by the Chinese.
