Canadian immigration officials are working with US counterparts in Nigeria to stem the number of migrants crossing illegally into Canada.
Nigerian asylum seekers have been crossing into Canada at its southern border with the US in growing numbers. Many were in the US with American visas before walking into Canada. In 2017, more than 20,500 migrants crossed illegally into Canada at the US border to seek asylum - about 40% of total claims. In the first three months of this year, over half the 5,052 asylum claims by those who crossed the border were Nigerian nationals, and most had valid US visas.

Deport them back to Nigeria.
i don’t see the problem - isn’t Canada for open borders?
Canada needs to stop their hate. Whats wrong with immigrants those xenophobes!
This is a problem? We should be using rocket trains to help the caravan get from our southern border to the ‘trump-free socialist paradise’ that is Canada.
Hmmm... I thought Justin wanted everyone....
Does he mean that Canada really isn’t the appropriate destination for billions of people????
A illegal immigrant if granted temporary refugee status is usually held for roughly two years. This while there is that bureaucratic specialty- a review of that person's case. In that period, compare this to the social assistance recipient in Ontario.
Two years paid housing. Double the approximate amount for welfare given to indigent Ontarians. Those Ontario recipients have to find for themselves ie: accommodation and food. I believe the base for a single person is $1194 per month. The "refugees" ain't stupid- give them that!
I’m curious about the religious make up of said refugees, considering Nigeria is pretty split Muslim to Christian.
More positive negotiations and another win by President Trump!
Another ‘legacy’ of the Obama era.
