Google maps, lists the Dalian Hilton as “A posh hotel with 4 restaurants and a pool 5-star hotel”

$111 night, make your reservation early!

The best part?
Only a couple of syllables and a workable number of vowels.
And I’m thinking the food to be excellent.

Go for it.

Actually, Dalian is a pretty nice place, a real economic boom town in China’s far eastern Lioaning Province, which borders North Korea. It’s also the world’s 10th largest commercial port.

Dalian was one of the most impressive cities my wife visited a few years ago on tour as harpist with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra. She can attest that those $111-a-night rooms are quite posh.

The view from her hotel room window, looking east across Korea Bay, was an eye-opener. The west coast of North Korea was clearly visible by day but shrouded in inky darkness at night while the Dalian metro area was ablaze with lights.

Dalian’s economic prosperity is an in-your-face argument for Kim Jung-Un to re-assess his nation’s priorities. And the undenable presence of all those South Korean-manufactured Hyundais and Kias clogging the city’s street literally drives home the point that North Korea has a lot of catching up to do.

The upcoming grand summit might well be held in Dalian.
