An advanced Russian fighter plane has crashed in Syria, killing both members of its crew.
The Russian military said the two-seater Sukhoi-30SM jet crashed on Thursday morning shortly after takeoff from its Khmeimim airbase in Latakia province.

A specialised version of the thrust-vectoring Su-30MKI and MKM variants for the Russian military, produced by the Irkut Corporation.[31][32] Russia’s Defence Ministry was impressed with the MKI’s performance envelope and ordered 30 Su-30SMs, a localised version of Su-30MKI, for the Russian Air Force.[33] The Su-30SM is considered as 4+ gen jet fighter.[34][35][36][37][38][39] The new version has been upgraded based on Russian military requirements for radar, radio communications systems, friend-or-foe identification system, ejection seats, weapons, and other aircraft systems.[40][41] The aircraft is equipped with the Bars-R radar and the wide-angle HUD.[32][41][42][43][44] A contract for 60 of the multirole fighter was signed in March 2012 with delivery by 2016.[45] On 21 September 2012 Su-30SM performed its maiden flight.[46] Multirole Su-30SM fighter jet was accepted into service of the Russian Aerospace Forces by a resolution of the Russian president of January 12, 2018.[47]

IMO the Flanker has always been a beautiful airplane when compared to other Russian aircraft.
I’ve always thought this F-15-ski looks nowhere as cool as the original.
I am glad their plane is a twisted burning metal wreck. I wish the pilots had been able to safely eject. They did not and are now sadly dead. They were warriors just as our pilots are warriors. Their warriors follow orders just as our warriors follow orders.
