I agree. We were not happy with the Soviets when they were meddling in our hemisphere and this is a bordering state for Russia and a former part of the Soviet Union. We would not be happy.

You wrote that about the Soviet Union as though it were a good thing. Very interesting.

Here's the American way of thought on issues of freedom and independence.

We're not happy with the Soviets meddling with any country that doesn't want to be meddled with. And we're not meddling with Russia. Selling arms to an independent nation to defend itself against an invasion is not meddling with another country that wants to conquer the independent nation by political infiltration and force.

By demands that NATO stay out of independent countries that don't want to be conquered by Russia and by threatening the West, Russia is not defending itself. If we wanted Russia, we would have easily taken it during the early 1990s. We did not do so, because we have a standard of moral good on that issue.

Even though Russia has rich natural resources, we believed in allowing Russians the opportunity to continue governing themselves and keeping their land and resources.
