Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., says his brain cancer diagnosis has given him a sense of freedom to speak his mind in what is his final term in the Senate.
"This is my last term," McCain says in an excerpt of a new memoir set for release next month. "If I hadnt admitted that to myself before this summer, a stage 4 cancer diagnosis acts as ungentle persuasion."
"Im freer than colleagues who will face the voters again. I can speak my mind without fearing the consequences much. And I can vote my conscience without worry," McCain writes. "I dont think Im free to disregard my constituents wishes, far from it. I dont feel excused from keeping pledges I made. Nor do I wish to harm my partys prospects. But I do feel a pressing responsibility to give Americans my best judgment."
The Arizona Republican laments about the state of American politics and the rise of politicians unwilling to compromise on issues that must be solved. At one point, he tells readers that they should not support a candidate for Congress who "rides his white horse to Washington" with a partisan agenda.
However, if someone tells you they will build alliances and "split differences where possible to make measurable progress" on national issues, "ask that candidate to run for president," he writes.
Wanna speak your mind, McCain?
Dandy.
Start with your relationship, dealings with Christopher Steele.
Yes he did, but we have a two-tier justice system and he, for some unknown reason, is in the top-tier.
Too bad, then, that his mind exited his cranium so long ago.
Let me speak my mind, McCain: ‘You are a _______ moron, so please resign because you are a __________ _________.
Songbird v.2.
If he is dying in the near term, I hope he will hang on until at least June 1st. That way the Republican Governor can appoint his replacement to finish out his term rather than having the risk of a special election to fill the vacancy in November.
I did not think his brain was working too well all along. Now compromised I guess it will be better.
McCain, 80, has been diagnosed by surgeons’ observation at the Mayo Clinic with a primary glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor associated with the blood clot they removed in mid 2017. This is thre type of tumor that killed Ted Kennedy. But they supposedly “got it all” during that surgery. They didn’t.
A second tumor in the same area of the brain was discovered in late 2017 and the prognosis was weak. Most people with the illness last 12 to 15 months, but some have exceeded up to 5 years. And with his wealth and position with its superior health care program, he can afford to get the best treatment money can buy.
In time, as this is not a curable illness, the identified symptoms are an increased intracranial pressure (headache and drowsiness), as well as progressive neurological deficits, epileptic seizures, confusion/delirium, fatigue, and dysphagia as the most prominent symptoms.
He has reached the one year mark of the illness and it is more than possible the media is hiding the neurological deficits and the confusion/delirium that is identified as part of the illness’s progression.
He should not be in a position of authority for this nation’s current and future needs. But his left leaning theories of government and his consistent working with the left for bills and determinations is a prized tool by the left they do not want to give up. So if he steps down, they lose a wedge in the door. So I believe they are “propping him up” to gain a foothold when they need it.
And let’s face it, the left has little morals and would use a dying person if they thought they could accomplish something. And when they are done, either the person dies or is killed. History proves that.
