USS Sturgis arriving in Panama.
Akademik Lomonosov, the world's first "floating" nuclear power plant (FNPP) for installation in remote areas, has headed out on its first sea voyage from this Baltic shipyard here, Russian state-run atomic energy corporation Rosatom said on Saturday.
Chernobyl with a propeller. What could possibly go wrong?
What could possibly go wrong?
My hubby was stationed on the Sturgis then and helped refuel it.
So where do you plug it in when you dock?
An ugly floating submarine?
When fish begin to look like Picasso designed them .... fins growing out of eyeballs .... we’ll know that the reactor sprung a leak.
I was stationed on the MH-1A Sturgis from 1972-1974. It was actually an old WWII Liberty ship that they removed the midsection and added a nuclear reactor and generator. I was a crane operator for the refueling of the reactor.
The picture posted at the beginning of this thread is actually us being towed to the pacific side for dry dock and repairs. The Sturgis was anchored next to the Gatun lock on the Caribbean side of the canal. I remember our company renting an island in the canal for $1/month. My MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) was Watercraft Operator and as such had a license to operate boats in the canal. We had a small landing craft and a 26 Stamas inboard. We used the landing craft to take water samples for radiation testing, go fishing and visit the island. Imagine yourself as a young kid, no responsibilities and able to take boats out to fish for very large peacock bass and just plan goof around? It was nice!
Rev. 16:9
The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea.
I’d like to see a couple of 35-MW’S in a zeppelin that would be stationed in Manchester Township, NJ...What could go wrong?
