Ruh Roh! Blue wave petering out before it makes it ashore ...
“they want to laugh and forward funny stuff on social media.”
then they would LOVE Free Republic: some of the funniest folks ever post here ...
It’s looking like the leftist overplayed their hand in CA as well. Even some of the moderate democrat stooges are looking at these radical leftist Sacramento like their psychos and some are now trying to distance themselves from their corrupt anti-American stench.
Are they really still entering the workforce at this point? The bulk of “Millenials,” as the term is generally understood, are already well into adulthood, and the oldest are already in their mid-thirties. The very youngest are now in their early 20s.
I think the “next wave” entering the workforce now are not Millenials, but rather the following generation, whatever you want to call them. Some call them “Generation Z,” while the guys who came up with the term “Millenial” call them “Homelanders.”
I don’t really buy into this Strauss-Howe generational stuff, but I do think studying age cohorts can provide interesting insights on where we’ve come from and where we are going.
For example: According to Pew, even though unemployment is the same, significantly fewer Millenials are participating in the labor force at all—the number of nonparticipating Millenials is 15%, vs. only 10% of Xers at the same age and only 8% of Boomers. One fact that went unremarked in the same survey: even FEMALE Millenials have a lower participation rate than the prior generation. That’s the first time that has happened in modern American history.
Interestingly, despite this, their inflation-adjusted median household income is still higher than prior generations enjoyed at the same age, though the increase is much smaller than the increase Gen X had over the Boomers. I think a good amount of the lower labor participation rate is explained by more Millenials spending longer as full-time students. Significantly more of them have 4-year degrees and advanced degrees than their predecessors. They are also far less likely to be married.
So Millenials are less likely to be working, have on average spent much longer in college, and are far less likely to be married or have kids. That’s quite a recipe for political radicalization. The Democrats have assumed that this means they will all radicalize to the left, but may be starting to realize that assumption is wrong. Unfortunately, radicalizing to the right does not mean they are going to become conservatives: most people don’t really become conservatives until they have a stake in in our society, which means jobs and kids.
“But this time, itll be against the progressive, PC, education, media and social media establishment which has been smothering them.”
I wish that was true but it’s not likely. From their first day in kindergarten to their last day in high school, those in public school have been brainwashed to believe liberalism is good and capitalism is bad. They have mostly bought it, Hook Line & Sinker. Unless they had good parents at home that debriefed them everyday.
Interesting, post Millenials are demographically different and more like their grandparents.
Overall it is a vexing issue as companies need to evolve in so many ways, and the latest issue and much talked about problem is Customer Experience and User Experience on which I am focused at the moment.
Interesting insights and much appreciated, would appreciate talking with you about this as your viewpoints are welcome.
Thanks
Good. They are coming to their senses.
??? Why couldn’t any pollster give us sample sizes this big running up to Trump’s election win? Or is this poll, being online, rather unimpressive?
Young white males would have to be stone cold stupid not to get the ‘hate white male’ message wrapped in every leftest diatribe... well, if not stupid then personally profiting from it like Hoggy can’t-do-a-pushup boy - who has yet to have to buckle to his upcoming ‘privilege wall’ when some black, Islamist or Latino tells him to step aside.
Ebb Tide. :-)
A lot of them do still, they’ve just turned to NatSoc as they call it.
The SJW multicultural agenda is radicalizing a lot of Millennials to embrace Fascism. A lot of them do it out of spite, but my biggest fear is these people go from saying “Hitler did nothing wrong” as a troll to legitimately start believing in it.
“Young people dont pay attention to media. Their information is all from jokes, entertainment shows and YouTube clips. they want to laugh and forward funny stuff on social media.”
That’s true if you mean the narrow definition of media - news media. But the way I see it, the media includes the entertainment shows, Hollywood, social media, etc.
The broad, all-inclusive definition of media seems to move in lock step, pushing only the leftist, progressive narratives.
If there’s any hope of breaking free of this mass leftist brainwashing, I think it may be that young people, especially the bright ones, like to be anti establishment. If the left continues to dominate the media and push a singular “progressive” message down their throats - eventually they will get tired of being manipulated and the pendulum will swing back towards sanity.
The Blue Flush is coming. All the turds are going down.
Because these youngest Millenials and the generation below them are enthralled with capitalism. If you have a reasonably shrewd idea and understand coding and/or engineering to any degree, your start-up can be the next billion-dollar unicorn. They see these guys and they know their ideas went from incubator to megabucks in, at most, 5 years:
Ill believe it when we win the mid-terms. Vote!
I agree that young people don’t perform due diligence on much, but they certainly want to know why their economic future is so grim. Never mind buying a house or starting a family; these people are looking at 7 YEAR CAR LOANS. While I associate them with Uber/Lyft, those companies illustrate a harsh reality these young people face: They’ll never be able to afford a car (and if given one, may not be able to insure it - at least here in NJ), and the people they “share” rides with can’t afford their cars without taxiing strangers around.
ConservaTeen knew this...along with his friends...
I would like to see the age breakdown of that poll, as I bet the younger end of that 18-34 age group (who are not actually Millenials at all but rather are in Generation Z) are the ones trending away.
What I’ve found interesting is how ‘conservative’ some of the young ‘uns are. I’ve overheard kids in their late teens talking, and the tone of their conversation absolutely does not sound like any Democrat/Liberal talking points at all.
I’ve a feeling these kids have grown up their entire lives being told that they are evil white kids and they are rebelling against that.
