I doubt the Senate would be able to confirm a replacement named by Trump anyway.

I’m not sure how many Republicans would be willing to be seen opposing another Justice Gorsuch. Even several Democrats who face a reelection campaign this year, in States Trump won decisively, might flinch in the face of that decision.

That’s why we need one ( or more ) of them to go one way or the other, this year.
