Col David Hackworth interviewed all the men who where in the Hanoi Hilton with McCain.

EVERY ONE of them said McCain was a traitor.

I won't be sorry the day he checks out of this life and checks into Hell.

Do you remember where you read this? I don’t like McCain much, but I don’t think Hackworth ever said this. What he did say was the following:

http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2000-01-27/news/0001270396_1_john-mccain-valor-awards-hero-awards
John McCain is being hailed by the press as a “genuine war hero.” But is he a war hero in the conventional sense like Audie Murphy and John Glenn? Or is his “war hero” status the creation of a very slick publicity campaign that plays on flag, duty, honor and country?

In an attempt to find out exactly what the man did to earn these many hero awards, I asked his Senate office three times to provide copies of the narratives for each medal. I’m still waiting.

I next went to the Pentagon. Within a week, I received a recap of his medals and many of the narratives that give the details of what he did.

None of the awards, less the DFC, were for heroism over the battlefield — where he spent no more than 20 hours. Two Navy officers described the awards as “boilerplate” and “part of [a standard] medal package given to repatriated [Vietnam-era] POWs.”

Our POWs in Vietnam were treated appallingly. The Viets would either break a POW or kill him. POWs provided information beyond name, rank and serial number or they didn’t come back. Based on these stalwart men’s horrific experiences, the Code of Conduct has been changed. A POW says, “Now the training is to give [the enemy] something don’t risk permanent damage to health, mind or body.”

McCain refused an early release. An act of valor?

Three former POWs told me he was ordered to turn it down by his U.S. POW commander.

McCain certainly doesn’t appear to be a war hero by conventional standards, but rather a tough survivor whose handlers are overplaying the war hero card.

“Col David Hackworth interviewed all the men who where in the Hanoi Hilton with McCain. “

David Hackworth was a low life who had little respect for the truth and used his (bravely earned) war record to give him an undeserved status when it came to political issues of which he had little knowledge and much hatefulness.

Hackworth was even a behind-the-scenes contributor to the Dan Rathergate fraud.

Your story from Hackworth on all these fellow POW witnesses is a big lie. It never happened, and Hackworth never had access to all these claimed POW witnesses. Hackworth was a sick, bitter, old man who spent the end of his life trying to settle scores.

John McCain may be dishonorable scum when it comes to his politics, but he is a true hero when it comes to his war service.

And it’s for God to make judgments on our life and entrance into heaven, not you.

Not true. Bud Day was McCain’s cell mate. And while he disagreed with McCain’s politics - as do I - he believed McCain was a hero. They remained life-long friends in spite of strong political differences.
