The hidden battle in Syria – the one that rarely appears on our television screens – has been raging for years between Israel and a coalition comprising the Syrian government, Iran and the Lebanese militia Hezbollah.
Watching over the proceedings without directly intervening has been Russia, although that might be about to change.
The prize is control over Syrian territory but the battlefield is Syria’s skies.

I’m at a loss vis-a-vis your great love of Assad and the Russians. I understand, from a purely sectarian standpoint, Assad’s need to evict as many Sunni Arabs as he can from Syria. That’s very different from saying that he’s a good guy. As to the Russians, they’ve been trying to stick it to Uncle Sam for the past 100 years, ever since the Bolsheviks took power.
Between the Assads’ sponsorship of the PLO, Hezbollah and Hamas, they have killed thousands of Israelis. Scaled up to the US population, that would be hundreds of thousands of dead in terror attacks, or a hundred 9/11’s worth of deaths. Payback’s a bitch, and it’s time for Israel to get some.

I would like to see the Russians go after the Israeli planes and all get sot down by Israeli pilots.
I would love to see Israel give those systems a trial. Russia would soon have its tail between its legs and vallued customers demanding their money back.
More accurately, in the past decade an a half Western Media consistently denied the existence of WMD's in Middle Eastern Nations the US targeted for Military force and trashed Republicans and Conservatives for suggesting they existed.
Western Intelligence, including Wilson and Plame generally backed the Liberal Media, and DemoRat prosecutors destroyed patriots (Libby) attempting to expose Deep Swamp bias.
Recently The Prog Left and Swamp have reversed themselves claiming Syria is a world class producer and serial user of WMD chemical weapons, pretending their previous positions and actions never occurred.
Factually Russia was the entity that initiated a coalition supervised search and destruction of said chemical weapons, so the Media and Swamp can claim with absolute certainty that Assad deploys chemical weapons on a weekly basis.
Therefore, the author's claim that Israel initiated the West's overblown and convenient fixation on Assad's chemical weapons is accurate only if Israel is closely linked to the American Prog Left, Deep Swamp Globalists, or is using them like free toilet paper in a public restroom.
As far as the author's allegation that Israel has Nukes, that's pretty much accepted, that Assad fears those Nukes is speculation, Israel isn't about to start a Nuclear war over Assad's Syria.
The fact is that is Israeli nukes are not a threat to anyone except if they are militarily attached.
