Trade. Trump told Xi that he must choose between reining in NK on its nuclear program or face stringent actions on his trade with the US. This is the leverage we have over China.

Xi gets full credit by Trump for his role and China no longer has a nuclear power on its border. No doubt there will be accommodations with China on trade issues. Win, win.
