Mongolia and Singapore are the final two sites under consideration for the upcoming summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, two administrative sources told CBS News' Major Garrett. Mr. Trump told reporters Friday that the location had been narrowed down to two spots.

"I will be meeting with Kim Jong Un in the coming weeks, we look forward to that," Mr. Trump said during a news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. "We're down to two countries as to a site, and we'll let you know what that site is."

Mr. Trump declined to say whether he has met with Kim directly. But he did say they have a "good working relationship."

"I don't want to comment on that but we have a very good working relationship," Mr. Trump said. "We're setting up a meeting. Things have changed very radically from a few months ago. You know the name calling and a lot of other things. We get a kick every once in a while out of the fact that I'll be watching people that failed so badly over the last 25 years explaining to me how to make a deal with North Korea, I get a big, big kick out of that.

The North Korean leader and South Korean President Moon Jae-in held a historic meeting Friday, with Kim becoming the first member of his family to cross the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) since the Korean War armistice in 1953.

The two Koreas agreed to get rid of their nuclear weapons, but they did not offer any details about how they will achieve this.

On Saturday, Mr. Trump tweeted: "Just had a long and very good talk with President Moon of South Korea. Things are going very well,

I don’t know about Singapore, but Mongolia is beautiful and full of history.

Consider the source: SeeBS. I’ll believe the location when I hear it from the lips of Admin. Staff.....someone from Sarah Sanders on up to POTUS himself. Certainly not the drive-by bunch.

As some wag said, “It has to be close to NK, Kim doesn’t have a plane that will make a long flight”.

Virtual reality meeting. For security reasons.

Because something stinks about this.

The choice is about optics, and allowing Trump to credit Xi.

Stroking the Panda will be even more important once an agreement is reached.

Mongolia. Diplomats will just have to suck it up.

That was the only time Truman and McArthur ever met in person.

Only Nixon could go to China. And only Trump could go to Mongolia! :-)

No one in the State Dept. wants to travel to Mongolia. Singapore is much nicer.

Good reason to pick Mongolia, then.

I didn’t realize South Korea HAD nukes...

They really aren't that hard to make with modern electronics. The hard parts are (1) getting the uranium or plutonium and 2) the timing of the triggering. Two is fairly easy with modern electronics (at which Korea is very good). As for the first, they have at least 24 commercial nuclear reactors (and some research facilities). They were extracting plutonium as early as 1982. They agreed to not do further reprocessing and enrichment in a deal entered into in 2015. I expect they managed a nice little stockpile of weapons grade material in 33 years of work.

Singapore is about 7 hours from NK. Mongolia is next door.

Distance between Ulaanbaatar and Pyongyang is 1807 kilometers (1123 miles)

Significantly closer than the almost 6 hours to Singapore, but not exactly next door. Japan, Russia and China are closer.

” with Kim becoming the first member of his family to cross the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) since the Korean War armistice in 1953. “

How did the Kim sister get to the Winter Olympics without crossing the DMZ? Or is she not “family”?

and allowing Trump to credit Xi.

The president of Mongolia is Khaltmaagiin Battulga, prime minister is Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh. Xi is in China. Ulaan Baatar is as close to Irkutsk as it is to any point in China.

The US Embassy is in the Northeast part of town, The North Korean embassy is in the Northwest part of town, and the South Korean embassy is in the South, near the convention center.

It doesn't look like there is a diplomatic center, the various other embassies appear to be scattered all over town.

Mongolia is a third-world landlocked cesspool crawling with chinese spies and with a myriad of security concerns. Meet fat-boi on Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

And Singapore is a clean first-world location with luxurious accomodations, but once again, up to the rafters with chinese spies.

Short fat cannot take a train to Diego Garcia. Didn’t he have his brother knocked off in Singapore?

Oddly enough, Mongolia might be a better choice, from Kim’s standpoint, than Singapore because there doesn’t appear to be any presently feasible, reasonably comfortable rail route from either Korea to Singapore. Please see:

Mongolia would also be a totally unique “travel experience” for Trump and company.
