"Two months ago, Vaughn Walker, the federal judge who last August struck down California’s Proposition 8, retired; on April 6th, he met with reporters, and took the opportunity to acknowledge that he has been involved in a ten-year relationship with a male partner, a physician. There had been rumors that Walker, who was appointed to the bench by George H. W. Bush, was gay, and the San Francisco Chronicle had reported that the rumors were true."
