Back in the ‘70s, my cousin had a little flag with a national name under it on the bumper of his car. I stared at it and asked, “What’s that, man? Doucheland?” He said, “No, you freak. It’s Doytchland.”

It doesn’t need to be a torpedo. You can put a pretty big device inside an unmanned submersible. The transporting sub doesn’t need to do more than drop it off and scoot.

There was underwater testing of nukes done fairly early on. I wonder what size devices were used and what size waves were produced as a result of such usage.

Traction drive. but they would be blind. 56kts, a lot of ocean covered in a short time. Imagine driving on the freeway in western Montana at night, without a moon or headlights. You may or may not hit someone or something.

Yep, I added a K that shouldn’t be there.
The ASROC might be effective but it is no longer nuclear tipped either.
And it being on a surface ship is more vulnerable.

Traction drive. but they would be blind. Do you maybe mean caterpillar drive or magnetohydrodynamic drive?
Caterpillar drive may be silent, but it isnt fast. It could never get close to 50 kts.
I had thought about the issue of the sub being blind at that speed. But it is a drone and would be on a predetermined course. Cruising at depth on the predetermined route its only hazards would be whales and other subs.
In a war in which this weapon would be used it may be considered an acceptable risk.
And I am guessing that its speed is for purely defensive purposes; escaping a sub killer. Short sprints not long marathons.

I wonder how the exact physical dynamics would work?
The initial blast would turn all the seawater within a certain range into super heated gas.
So, I guess a huge amount of surrounding water would rush in, causing a giant wave?

Cool idea. It has got to make the pilots a lot more comfortable.
I can imagine they would be sweating bullets dipping that big plane down to 100 feet to drop that torpedo.

What gap?
Obama’s stated goal was to reduce the US’s nuclear arsenal to ZERO.
He wanted to completely surrender to foreign powers (Communist and Islamist). He was a traitor of the highest order and did not uphold his oath of office.

It better be a drone, wouldn’t be good to be sitting inside a tin-can underwater when the explosive force comes blowing back.

Until they get a sonar that is silent, any sub at high speed just means you have to lead them a little more with a offensive weapons shot.. Not faster that a sub rock...
