Most here don’t know the effect of pot except they don’t like who smokes it where they live
In the south where most white people are righties of some order outside of hipster urban areas pot smokers tend to be like anybody else
It’s like guns with liberals....
They fear who have them but know little about them themselves

I am in non-urban Georgia and I have to admit being one of the people you described.
Our state has passed medical cannabis allowances each year. A very close family member benefited before passing away from cancer. That is what swayed my position.
I then studied the issue at UGA Law and have advocated for rescheduling at least so it can be offered to others in similar circumstances. People see the kids in Georgia overcoming some of the most severe symptoms of various diseases. They are no longer focusing on the hippies. I heard Laura Ingraham bloviating last week about this topic and just thought how ignorant she sounded.
Good news. Even my most conservative friends have come to agree there are some attributes which might be positive and we should study them further.
I have spoken to several Congress Creatures and the only thing they seem concerned with now is a method to measure for DUI’s. They are recognized that the CSA was an overreach.
Look at Speaker Boehner. He jumped on the rescheduling bandwagon this week along with Senator Schumer.
