In the context of taxpayer-supported schools, and evidenced by Ms Jarrar's bragging about her status, a tenured professor should be regarded as a violation (imo) of the Constitutions Article I, Section 10, Clause 1, which the Founding States made partly to prohibit the states from establishing protected / privileged classes.
"Article I, Section 10, Clause 1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility [emphases added]."
Insights welcome.
Management hates loudmouths that think they are irreplaceable. When taking over an organizations on of the first things I looked for was people who had tried to work themselves into a secure position. Usually a serious talk was all that was required to end that behaviour. There were instances where non-team players had to be removed. Never could stand the irreplaceable types.
