Well, I have to say, I certainly never saw this coming. Next stop: Oregon, California. The only difference is that those two states will want to use voting history as one basis for whacking citizens through complicit MD’s.
There was a very haunting documentary on TV a few years ago. It was about an Englishman with some incurable illness who opted for assisted suicide in Switzerland. He was still completely mobile, not in pain, and in full control of his faculties. Not old either, perhaps early 70’s. For whatever reason he decided to end it. The program showed the administration of the fatal drug with his wife at his side. What happened next continues to haunt me. He seemed to have a change of heart and begged for some water. The “caretaker” - or whatever you call these administrators of death, refused his request and stood idly by as the man slipped away obviously in some distress. Their job was to kill their “patient,” and they did so coldly and without compassion. Unless such “pragmatic” calculations regarding the value of human life are decisively defeated, countless numbers will meet similar ends.
