While I hate to be a history Nazi you’re thinking of the Gneisenau. The Prinz Eugen escorted the Bismarck for awhile.

Gneisenau, Prinz Eugen, and Scharnhorst all three made the dash together according to wiki.

The Prince Eugene detached from the Bismark and made to Brest. The Bismark met its fate separately. The Prince Eugen stayed in Brest suffering RAF air bombardment with the Scharnhorst and the Gneisenau. All three of them plus some smaller ships and torpedo boats) made the “Channel Dash.” I just didn’t mention the Gneisenau because I can never spell it correctly from memory.
