Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke are in a statistical dead heat, according to a new poll released Wednesday.
Cruz led O’Rourke, 47 percent-44 percent, which is within the margin of error, according to a survey from Quinnipiac. It’s the first major public poll of the race and is likely to fuel Democratic hopes that the little-known three-term El Paso congressman is in the running to unseat Cruz.

I WORRY about these polls because they were RIGHT about Alabama, and I have yet to see Cruz here doing a damn thing to take this election seriously.

Thanks, a lot of people here think the best approach is to not take these polls seriously. Well, Trump won Texas by 8.5%, he won Alabama by 22%. I do take these polls SERIOUSLY, and hopefully Cruz will too.
The dems running in Texas are radical lefties. We have a lesbian Hispanic former Sherrif of Dallas trying to beat Greg Abbott for governor. Beto is a nut.
Well, the TX “democracy” is going for blood this yeari in anticipation of huge gains.
You are assuming that the voters of TX know now or soon will know O’Rourke’s record. That just may not be the case.

Yes, most in TX do not vote in any primary and hence have no “D” or “R” label.
The problem we have with “Beto” is that he reminds some of the TX people of John F. Kennedy. And many will fall for a Kennedy every time!
What about the Hispanics? That’s what I worry about.

We do not like liars, especially Never Trumpers like Lyn’ Ted. Lyn’ Ted was routed in 2016, outed as a liar, backstabbed Trump, etc. people don’t like lying losers, even in Texas.
Let ‘em piss the money away. Nobody is going anywhere this year, not in Texas, at least. I think the same polling outfit claimed Trump’s disapproval rating in the state was 10% or so higher than his approvals. Right there it doesn’t pass the smell test. As with TN, his actual approval rating is likely at or above 60%.
He’s not a Never Trumper and he has Trump’s support for reelection 100%.
