The Syrian Kurds do understand this.
It is clear that everyone is in denial about reality of Turkey in NATO and the intent of Erdogan the Islamist.
They refuse to comment about the attack on Afrin and the atrocities that followed.
We're whistling past the graveyard about Turkeys future in NATO or the EU.

Russia’s greatest hope is to get Turkey on the side of Syria and Russia. Russia is wanting to get more control over energy pipelines to Europe and over ocean routes in the area. Some of those pipelines run through Turkey and others through Syria. Russia also tried to buy into the big Israel gas field.

I did not know they tried to buy into the Israeli project.
Both Putin and Erdogan want to use oil Revenue to rebuild an empire. Both have extremely evil intent.
And the EU and NATO leaders must be really some kind of stupid.
Russia also wants control of Istanbul (Constantinople) really bad...and Jerusalem. For those who are aware of some history, the reason is clear.

“Russia supplies 35% of Europe’s gas and 55% of Turkey’s, and both of these gas consumers are desperately seeking to diversify their sources of supply. Israeli gas flowing from Leviathan through a pipeline to Turkey, and from there to Europe through another pipeline, is one of the most feasible options. One of Israel’s main concerns is therefore that Russia’s primary aim is to forestall the development of Leviathan in order to prevent competition with Russian gas, or if it is developed, to make sure the gas is not sold to Turkey or Europe. Another concern is that Russian involvement in Israel’s gas reservoirs could prove the perfect excuse for the entry of Russian warships in order to ‘protect’ the gas drilling platforms.”

Well the article is a couple years or so old so I want to check further about Russia’s interest in Israel’s gas/oil now that there’s a lot of shifting going on.

Looks like the Russian offer was probably refused, but I’ll need to look into it more. Noble Energy has put some effort into it. Will look further. Maybe you’ll find something.
