It has been speculated that Kim wants to stall until Trump is out of office. The Rats and the Deep State have been screaming to the world that they will remove trump as soon as they fully regain power. Could there be a common cause with Kim Jong Un? Their hatred for Trump is greater than saving the planet from a nuclear war?

Kim may only know what he is told about US politics. Maybe he's been told that the Democrats will impeach and remove Trump next year and thinks that would mean that Hillary became President...who would give him whatever he asked for (for a suitable donation to the Clinton Foundation).

Or at any rate expects the Democrats to win in 2020 so he just needs to stall until then.

Yes, they have a common cause. Many of them don't seem to care what their fixation on Trump is causing U.S. a great harm. That includes RINO's.

If Trump gets tough, he is a warmonger bent on bringing nuclear apocalypse. If he tries to negotiate, he is a stupid man who know nothing about NK's nature. If he wins a war, they will rail against damage or cost of military actions. In this situation, there is no pressing need for NK or China to make any serious course correction. Instead just they stall for a couple of years and will get out unscathed. They may even think that he will be a lame duck by next year if RINO works hard to lose mid-term election. I suspect that RINO's are perfectly happy to lose both houses. That is, it is an acceptable price for getting their control back from Trump.
