I was in an L-1011 out of Calgary when a strut
came loose and was sucked into its engine, breaking
turbine blades as it went. The plane shuddered
and the blades breaking sounded like a machine gun
being fired. My thought on the possibility of life
being over was, “Well, it’s been nice.”

[L-1011]

Favorite passenger airplane of all time. Eastern 401 being a very tragic combination of mismatched autopilot-related computers and pilot inattention due to the nose gear landing light bulb being burned-out.

The airline would have had to re-upholster the seat and call in a bio-hazard team to remove my waste once we landed.

Probably breaking compressor blades, and that’s never a good thing heh.

I was on a TWA L-1011 that had an aborted take off. Very disturbing story. Both airplane and airline are now defunct.
