In this piece by Clarice Feldman in The American Thinker, she lays out that the intelligence agencies used the time from Trump's first talking about a strike to when it actually happened to listen in on intercepted communications of all parties as they all withdrew from the region. They knew what was happening on the ground.

very interesting article.

Trump using public tweets to preciptate communications and scurrying around so we could listen in and watch reminds me of the WWII ruse used to identify Midway as the Japanese attack target by sending a false message in clear text about a (non-existent) fresh water shortage on Midway because of malfunctioning evaporators, which the Japanese dutifully intercepted and sent back in their unknowingly compromised cryptographic code, thereby allowing us to identify Midway with certainty as their target ...
