California has rejected the federal governments initial plans for National Guard troops to the border because the work is considered too closely tied to immigration enforcement, two U.S. officials told The Associated Press.
The state informed federal officials it will not allow its troops to fix and repair vehicles, operate remotely-controlled surveillance cameras to report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol, operate radios and provide mission support, which can include clerical work, buying gas and handling payroll, according to officials with knowledge of the talks who spoke condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.
Talks between U.S. and California officials about the duties the California troops would perform soured Friday and over the weekend after state authorities told federal officials that they would not participate in vehicle maintenance and the other jobs outlined for an initial phase across the border in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, the U.S. officials said. The other border-state governors all Republicans have openly embraced Trumps plans.
The states position infuriated some federal officials because the restrictions California officials wanted to impose on what the states troops would not do were considered onerous, the officials said.

I miss the weather, the beautiful country, or what’s left of it, and all the good people there. One of my daughters lives in Ventura so I go to visit her and get to walk on the beach, but it’s been three years since I’ve been home. What part of CA do you live in?
Washington did it. See Whiskey Rebellion.
It wouldn’t matter. The President is CIC of the armed forces. It’s whether Congress would continue to fund it.
same thing for the next round of mud slides and wildfires....F’em....I have no interest or concerns for anything or anyone on the left coast....hope it gets nuked!

“Inspect her yourself.” —Graucho
California is in a state of rebellion.
That is all well and good but for this.
The president has the authority to federalize the National Guards.
So a-hole Moonbeam figures he’ll get a feather sending troops to lay around on chaise lounges, and sip Margaritas at taxpayer’s expense!?
Typical scheming bird flippin’ Democrat slimeball.
I say Californians would support DJT on this at least three to one.
All National Guard units are not self sustaining so they are very dependent on Federal money let alone that the CIC is the President and ultimately the NG has to answer to the President. It just takes a stroke of the pen and a friendly reminder.
I am in the same situation in Chicago.
I make my own wine, I’m set
Far past time to shut Brown and his communist regime down permanently.
It would please me if very soon the apt question would be, “Which state of California?”
San Diego area, not far from the border wall prototypes. Beautiful weather and youre right, there are many great people here.
Let me guess - Wine Country, Fire Country, and Northern Mexico.
