And they would have been forced to resign...rightfully so, IMHO, but such ethical standards are neither enforced nor even expected of Democrats...it isn’t part of their branding.
Just goes to show the wisdom of the Framers for making House terms just 2 years. (Too bad they didn’t specify 2 years and out; they really did want citizen - lawmakers, so there would be a good turnover and grassroots ordinary citizens would get a chance to actually represent their districts). It’s criminal that these people stay in office for decades.
